Alphabet Toddler Tray

Here is an easy alphabet toddler tray idea. The purpose is to search and match the large letter with the same small letter in the tray. This activity is great for learning letters and differentiating between big and little. My son loved the bright colorful letters in the tray and he could not wait to get his hands on them! He started out with tongs to pick up the letters but eventually he just wanted to use his hands. I purchased the large paper letters at CVS Pharmacy and the small plastic letters from the dollar store. This was very inexpensive and quick to set up. So easy and yet so educational! He had so much fun playing and learning. I loved watching him concentrate as he took the time to search carefully through the tray for specific letters. An extension to this activity for older children would be to place uppercase and lowercase letters into the tray and to match them.

  4. I'm going to use this on my Toddler Tuesday blog next week. We did it with numbers too - and words (I had random puzzle pieces from a farm puzzle left over and used those as the things to pick up with tongs).
